I'm Getting Sucked In

For the last couple of years I haven't been much of a television watcher, but lately it seems to be sucking me in. I wrote a poem about it...

Daytime television bore
Don't come knockin on my door
Stay away I don't like your kind
You make my butt big
You take over my mind

If you think this is really silly
I have to say I agree
Sometimes I just go off willy nilly
But that's ok with me

And on that note...here is what I've been watching lately...

Curb Your Enthusiasm(actually a really hilarious show written by the same guy who wrote Seinfeld)

The Sarah Silverman Show(very crass but totally funny)

Weeds(About a drug dealing housewife who is learning the hard way how to become a big time drug lord...this show is really great with an awesome cast.)

Boston Legal(one of my absolute favorites)

House MD (Hugh Laurie rocks in this show)

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia( I love Danny Devito in this one)

Nip/Tuck(totally a guilty pleasure...this show is so over the top!)

The Bachelor(it's like a train wreck...I just can't look away...I actually think the whole premise of the show is utterly ridiculous)

That's a big list! Oh and I've been watching tons of documentaries...at least they are educational. I particularly like the science ones, the history ones, and the nature ones. LOL I guess that encompasses a lot!

Good choices all...Larry David (Seinfeld co-creator) is one of the funniest people I've ever seen.

I had to laugh when I read your poem about daytime TV. I generally avoid it like the plague that it is. But this morning, the radio station that we put on to keep the dog company while we drop the munchkins off at school was playing an excerpt from Ellen Degeneres's show.

What an annoying diatribe? I felt the brain cells leaking out of my ears as it dribbled into the front hall. I couldn't get out of the house fast enough.

Yet millions of people watch and hover on every word uttered on these programs. What a sad comment on society.

Hi Carmi! What a pleasant surprise to see you here.

p.s. I think it's sweet you leave the radio on for your dog. Oh and I've totally been enjoying your blog...your photos are great!

I absolutely DO NOT turn on the TV during the day unless it's PBS or something for the kid, on occasion I'll check out Meerkat Manor or HGTV. My fixes are House MD, Bones and LA INK, I want a new tattoo so freakin' bad! But to be really honest, the worst habit I have is this goddamn computer! I HAVE to start limiting my screen time, I can just feel the minutes of my life ticking away behind this stupid machine! Now I have to apologize to the Almighty Mac so it doesn't crash on me 20 min. from now!

I'm a big fan of "Curb", "Nip", and "Sunny."

I also got sucked into "Lost" and "Rescue Me"
If it weren't for Tivo my viewing list would be a lot smaller though. I love skipping the commercials!

Yeah well that's part of the reason I think I got sucked in was because of the dvr...skipping through commercials certainly is nice.

I can't get into House anymore. I guess it just all seemed the same to me. Most of the time I watch anything with Gordon Ramsay. Kitchen Nightmares and The F Word. I also enjoy the medical shows on Discovery Channel. The forensic shows are pretty good. I do like The First 48. As far as series shows go, I like Boston Legal sometimes, and Lost. I also watch Gray's Anatomy, but I am getting tired of it I think. It is becoming kind of like a soap opera. And I like to record and watch movies on the DVR. That's about it. Anyone see Ratatouille yet? I haven't. It comes out on DVD on Nov. 6, and I think I might have to get it for the kids. (well and us too;-)

From one cook to another, you are absolutely going to love this movie!

I'm sure there is a lot of T&A on Tivo, but we mostly don't subscribe to those channels. :)

Lynn: In my humble opinion, as a longtime lover of computer animation since before the first Toy Story, Ratatouille may be the very best of the Pixar movies to date. Don't miss it.

I am DYING to see Ratatouille!!!! Fortunately, I'll be at home when it comes out on DVD. I've seen previews and it looks to me to be one of the BEST movies of the year, animated or not!

Yeah I'd say it was one of the season's best. I'm buying it for sure. I fully identified with the main character.

Kazim: Darn it I don't get those channels either, but when you can get it free online why pay for it? :D

Poodles, I'm relieved that SOMEBODY got my T&A joke. Ginny thought it was too obscure for anybody but me. :)
