Ben's Art Work

Ben has never been one to draw. While all his friends were busy drawing smiley faces, people, and houses, he just scribbled. But now that he is in school and is required to draw, his artistic side is finally emerging...not to mention he is using more than one color. Before it was always green that he chose and nothing else. I'm so proud! :)

This is an earlier drawing showing that he is just starting to break out of the scribble stage

And this is the latest picture he brought home from school. We asked what the "Jmate" meant, and he said that's not a "J" but a check mark, so it's check mate. Why he put check mate on there is a mystery. He just laughs and says he doesn't know. Kids are so silly.

he was just holding back so as not to embarrass the other kids.

Come on Ginny, you don't know what Jmate means, obviously not in with the cool crowd ;)

I love the fish! I am glad he is involved in art with school. That was one aspect of growing up that I really enjoyed. Especially when Mom sent us to museum school. I remember the painting, drawing, and pottery classes. It was so much fun. You have mentioned that Ben doesn't seem interested in art, but I bet once he gets away from the video games for a while, he will begin to develop all kinds of talents. He is a very smart boy. Good job Ben!

Ben has lots of artistic potential. Being able to develop his imagination through art and other things will be an important step for him. Did he do the fish all by himself? If he did, that is a GREAT fish! It shows he isn't constrained by conformity, but can think outside of the box and be more free with his strokes. Well, we have lots of artists in the family, so it wouldn't surprise me if he picked up those genes. Hopefully he will continue to broaden his interests! Take care:-)

Since you are such an accomplished artist, I can understand why you are so happy that side of Ben is coming out. I wish you could have seen some of *my* early attempts at art! lol Oh boy...very sad, indeed.
If Ben drew the outline of that fish, he is doing very well with his sense of proportion.

Lynn I have very fond memories of museum school. We were so lucky to be able to attend those classes. The pottery classes were by far my favorite.

You girls probably don't remember how hard it was for me to get the two of you enrolled in museum school...it was one of those deals where I had to camp out from the middle of the night until they opened the registration process the next morning! That is the ONLY time I ever did something like that!!!! but, it paid off and I was about the 25th person in line to register. I wonder if they still have those classes and if it is still as hard to get kids into?

Nope, I had no clue you did that mom. I'm so glad you did it too. It would be a real shame if those classes are not offered anymore.
